Newsletter for the Week Ending September 14, 2012

QUOTE:  Given the insane political season, the definition of our government gets no better than this:   “Government is like a baby: An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other”   Ronald Reagan

YOUR  ST˜R  POWER, SCRIPTS FOR YOUR SUCCESS FROM HOWARD BRINTON:  www.StarPower.com.  LISTING PRESENTATION – EXPLAIN MARKETING CONTINUED (from last week’s newsletter which is archived on the blog):  “I’d like to know if you stayed here, what would you change in this home for the next five years?  Then, what I’m going to do is to see to it that the top REALTORS in the area get a flyer on your home talking about all these things that you’ve done to your home.  I’m going to also send this to my favorite people in the top echelon of the corporations that I do business with.  This flyer will help kickoff my personal marketing of your home.  (Note:  Flyer could be a flyer, email, blog, webpage, etc.)

WISDOM FROM MICHAEL DUNN, author of What’s The BIG Secret.  http://michaelpdunn.org/Success.html  From Page 141.  Some people might say they need someone with whom to share all their problems.  If you can find a way to spend your whining time helping someone who is worse off than you are, your past hurts will dissolve away.  The more you dwell in self-pity, the more you bury yourself in bitterness and addictions. (Gymbeaux Note:  It is another version of the Law of Attraction.  You tend to attract into your life more of what you think about most.  Constantly think and talk about your own problems and you get more of the same.  “Stop digging the hole you are in before”, as Gary Keller says, “before you start hanging pictures in that hole.”)

THE WORLD OF STEVEN WRIGHT:   I just got skylights put in my place. The people who live above me are furious

SPEAKING OF AMBIGUITY:  How do they get deer to cross the road only at those yellow road signs?

DO YOU MAKE THESE MISTAKES IN VISUALIZATION?  You do visualize don’t you?  Very good advice from Wes Hopper:  http://www.dailygratitude.com/mistakes-visualization/

ORGANIZED FOR SUCCESS OR FAILURE, By Colleen Francis via www.SalesDog.com   As you read this, you will read this, right?  As you read this keep in mind that you already have a contact management system in place with eEdge.  So the question is: Are you using it to its fullest extent?  What I have found most useful in the contact management systems I have used in the past was that as I spoke with someone I was able to insert notes on the prospects page on the system.  Then when I called back or the prospect called me, I could call up the prospect’s page and review the notes either before I called or as they called me.  I could then immediately follow-up on something that was said or agreed to in previous conversations.  Read the article at:  http://www.salesdog.com/newsletter/2012/sales_training_nl0591.htm#newsletter

HOW TO GET TO MARS:  This is a very good video that I think you will want to share with your children.  For you-know-who, some of it is animated.  http://www.youtube.com/embed/XRCIzZHpFtY?rel=0

THIS WEEK’S HUMOR – THE JOVERS:  Promise you, you will laugh.  The Jovers were a husband and wife funny vaudeville-style act that is wonderfully entertaining as it’s witty and Fe Jover’s laugh is contagious. In this clip they are performing live at the MGM in Reno in 1980. Fe is now 83 and lives with her daughter as her husband passed away a short time ago. Please share this video to help make it go Viral so Fe will know how many people are still enjoying their wonderful performance.  http://biggeekdad.com/2012/05/the-jovers/

THE LAW OF THE GARBAGE TRUCK
Author Unknown

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport.   We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us.

My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us.

My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy.  I mean he was really friendly.

So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!'  This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks.  They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment.  As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you.

Don't take it personally.  Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on.  Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.  The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day.

Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so ... Love the people who treat you right.  Pray for the ones who don't.  Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

Have a garbage-free day!

"If we ever forget that we're one nation under GOD, then we will be a nation gone under."  -Ronald Reagan
