LOUISIANA REALTORS REAL ESTATE TRENDS REPORT. This report was part of an email that may have gone up-opened that you should be aware of. According to the report you may be surprised that sales are better than a lot of people think:

EXISTING HOME SALES RECORD ANOTHER BIG GAIN IN OCTOBER:
Driven by the first-time buyer tax credit, existing-home sales showed another big gain in October with a strong uptrend established over the past seven months, while inventories continue to decline, according to the National Association of REALTORS.

Existing-home sales – including single-family, townhomes, condominiums and co-ops – surged 10.1 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 6.10 million units in October from a downwardly revised pace of 5.54 million in September, and are 23.5 percent above the 4.94 million-unit level in October 2008. Sales activity is at the highest pace since February 2007 when it hit 6.55 million.

Lawrence Yun, NAR chief economist, was surprised at the size of the gain. "Many buyers have been rushing to beat the deadline for the first-time buyer tax credit that was scheduled to expire at the end of this month, and similarly robust sales may be occurring in November," he said. "With such a sales spike, a measurable decline should be anticipated in December and early next year before another surge in spring and early summer." Gymbeaux Note: The Bill that extended the first-time tax credit as well as homeowners desiring to sell and buy was signed in effect and may change the outlook through the first two quarters of 2010.

GRATITUDE – A COLLECTION OF DAILY MESSAGES by Wes Hopper. Mr. Hopper sends out an email every day with a one-page daily gratitude message. I have been collecting them into a book format designed to provide you with something to read first thing every morning before you get started and again every night before you turn in. You have a choice in how you approach your day, start by working on your best attitude. I have uploaded the book to www.SlidellCalendar.com in the Documents sectin under EBooks. Daily Gratitude. If you would like to subscribe to Wes Hopper’s daily email, go to www.DailyGratitude.com and scroll to the bottom. You will receive an EBook, The Power of Gratitude and you signup for the daily ezine at the same time.

MARKETING TIP: Provided by Jeffrey Gitomer, The Little Black Book of Connections (should be required reading for everyone in sales): Situation, you get a friend to give you a referral to call. You call and are told “No thank you.” Here is what Jeffrey says, “If you would have used your brains instead of your walled for thinking, you would have asked your friend to set up a three-way lunch or breakfast (I think breakfast is so much better) where you, your connection and his or her connection could all sit down and meet in a safe environment. This way, you have your best opportunity to engage and make a connection at the same time you are with the person who can affirm that what you are saying is both true and valid. A much more compelling environment. One that will most likely breed a successful outcome.” http://www.gitomer.com/Jeffrey-Gitomer-Little-Black-Book-of-Connections-pluLBBC.html

THE POWER OF THANK YOU, by Jon Gordon. Another great article/suggestion by Jon Gordon. Very appropriate for Thanksgiving

WHY REINVENT THE WHEEL? WHY SEARCH FOR SOMETHING THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN FOUND? I will create a “card” and put a supply in the resource room where you can identify a web site that you have found useful. I will then create a blog (easy to maintain) of the sites submitted, categorize them to making finding what you are looking for easy and most important include a one or two sentence as to what makes this site special as compared to all others. Then when you need something from the Internet, look at what someone in the Market Center not has already discovered but has also used and is happy with the quality, price and ease of use. If you want to email me your favorite link, this is what I will need:

• The Category (Internet, Training, etc)
• Submitted by
• Recommended Web Site URL:
• Cost if any (remember FREE is always a good thing):
• Brief comments as to why you think it is a good site and how you used it:

Here is a link to the first draft. http://slidelllinksmyblog.wordpress.com

FREE E-BOOK. THE LEFTHANDED SOLDIER. This link is provided courtesy of Stacey Chehardy; thank you Stacey, THIS IS SPECIAL! Wasn’t sure what it was all about and am truly glad I read it. I can only hope that everyone takes this opportunity to literally “read-for-a-change”. I have uploaded the Ebook to www.SlidellCalendar.com in the Document Section under Ebooks as well as attaching it to the email that notified this newsletter was posted online.

THREE KEY QUALITIES FOR YOUR JOURNEY THROUGH LIFE, by Lew Smallwood. A short but very good article that could help you through your daily struggles if you learn to be focused on what matters. This is part of Smallwood’s blog and he may have added a new one beyond this post but it will still be located on his blog, you may have to look for it. http://dynagroup-online.blogspot.com/

eMerge EMAIL PROGRAM: This is a personal recommendation. A local Slidell company NM Designs has created a wonderful email program that enables you to create great email headers, footers and special use emails plus create newsletter templates. You are not restricted to just one or two themes, you can create as many as you desire. You can also track how many of your emails are opened, not opened and how many are bounced back. You can also track how many of the links you provide are opened. This for only $10.00 a month for up to 500 email addresses. $30.00 a month for up 2500 addresses. I used the program to email you the link to this newsletter. It is a great program and will only get better from this point on. Anyone interest should email Natalie Guess at: nguess@nmdesigns.com.

FROM DR. TOM HILL’S FRIDAY EZINE: Solitude: If you have not tried a 3 day solitude retreat I highly recommend it. Here are some guidelines: You must not talk to another human being (dogs are okay) for the entire 3 days. Obviously no email, radio, TV, newspapers, etc. You can only be reached in case of an emergency. It takes about a day and a half just to disconnect with the world. Spend the time writing, meditating, praying, journaling, reflecting and communing with nature. If possible, I recommend you do this quarterly but at a minimum annually. If you would like to link to Dr. Tom’s Friday Ezine, go to: http://archives.subscribermail.com/msg/f6f05369560247c3a84bf53c33025f7a.htm

NEW OREANS BLIGHT/RESTORATION: To see how our blight compares to other cities, you can find the latest data at: http://www.gnocdc.org/BenchmarksforBlight/ and
to visualize block-by-block repopulation data for New Orleans (June 05 and Sep 09), visit our interactive map at: http://www.gnocdc.org/repopulation/ AND REMEMBER, THE CITIES BEING COMPARED TO DID NOT HAVE A MASSIVE FLOOD!

ATTENTION REALTORS® - THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE!
One thing we all learned at the recent 2009 NAR Conference is that short sale transactions will comprise a significant amount of your business for the next three to five years. Whether you are a new agent or an experienced broker now is the time to gain market share and pull away from your competition. The Certified Short Sale Agent (CSSA) designation is an industry-recognized symbol of excellence and experience. It teaches you how to make short sales an effective and profitable part of your business. It is a MUST have for any serious listing agent. The cost is $225.00 to obtain this designation. Register at: https://www.onlineregistrationcenter.com/register.asp?m=201&c=262

EMAILFINDER.COM: This is a program that claims to be able to find any email address. I did not subscribe to it but went as far as I could. It costs $14.95 to enter an email address and get to the next step where it actually lists all the email addresses it finds for your search. For $1.95 a month (paid annually) you have unlimited search abilities. www.EmailFinder.com.
